PieceRelay is a mobile party game in which several phones form one shared picture. The same app also contains PanicRelay, a timed mode where a bomb is passed from phone to phone. Both games use the same rooms, and both are covered by this policy. The app does not require an account and is designed to process only the data needed to run a game room, sync progress, show the finale, and handle content reports.

1. Data we process

Inappropriate content reportsReceiving and reviewing a report about an image or video shared in a room.

We do not require an email address to play, do not create user profiles, do not sell personal data, and do not use tracking ads.

2. Phone permissions

  • Camera is used for scanning QR codes, recognizing phone layout/markers, and optionally taking a puzzle photo.
  • Photo and video library is used when the host chooses an image, round images, or a finale video.
  • Internet access is used to connect to rooms, load the finale, and sync state through API and WebSocket connections.

3. Legal bases

  • Running and syncing the game: providing the requested service and our legitimate interest in operating the game.
  • Uploading photos, images, videos, and finale messages: voluntary action by the host.
  • Handling purchases and restoring the Pro unlock: performance of the paid feature agreement.
  • Receiving content reports: legitimate interest in moderation and player safety.

4. Providers and processing location

Game data is processed on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in Europe (Frankfurt, Germany). The backend uses AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, WebSocket API, and S3. Connections use HTTPS/WSS.

In-app purchases are handled by RevenueCat and the app store, especially Google Play on Android. Payment details are processed by the store operator, not PieceRelay.

5. Retention

  • Game rooms, nicknames, session identifiers, round state, and device profiles: about 2 hours.
  • Images and videos uploaded to a room: up to 7 days.
  • Inappropriate content reports: up to 30 days.
  • Technical backend logs may be retained briefly for debugging and service security.

6. Sharing content with other players

Photos, images, videos, and messages selected by the host are part of gameplay and may be visible to other players in the same room or team. The host should only upload content they have the right to use and that does not violate another person's privacy.

7. Content reports

The app includes a feature for reporting inappropriate images or videos. Reports can also be sent to info@piecerelay.com. Reports are reviewed within a reasonable time, considering that rooms and media expire automatically.

8. Children

PieceRelay is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Users aged 13-15 should use the app with a parent or guardian's consent and supervision, especially when the host uploads photos, images, or videos visible to other players.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Poland, the supervisory authority is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office. To exercise your rights, contact info@piecerelay.com.

10. Changes

This policy may be updated as the app, backend, or legal requirements change. The current version is published on this page.
